When the volcanic lava bubbles first cooled millions of years ago, the very first thing that lined the inside of the empty chamber was this green celadonite. Think of it like a natural primer layer. After the green layer formed, the mineral-rich waters changed, flowing in to deposit the white agate banding and finally the purple amethyst points on top of it.
